Hey, that looks pretty good! Mine hasn't arrived yet. The knockouts that are missing on yours...did you knock those out or did it come like that? I'm hoping you did it, since a couple of those holes (the ones for the heater core nipples) I won't be needing, since I'm going with a factory A/C setup.

I'd love to replace mine but I don't feel like stripping the whole fire wall to install it. Not yet anyway. That truck is very lucky to have you!!!

The first 3 pix are exactly as it comes. The ABS material is pre-knocked out but the insulation is not. I have to cut my own heater hose holes because Im going with the factory AC set up as well.

Today I got done:

Firewall cover installed

Factory AC/Heater unit rebuilt. (I dropped the old one and busted the rear case. So I had to swap cases. But I used that as an oportunity to use te best parts out of the two.

Factory AC/Heater unit installed, and hooked up all the way to the core support. (wires, hoses, cables) No ducts yet.

Switches and wiring harness installed.

Doesnt sound like much but man that was some work!

Anyway, took pix as I went.

Things I learned today:

Wear a longsleeve shirt, no matter how hot it is.
The ABS covers insulation is fiberglass, so its like house insulation. It gets all over you and makes you itch like fire.

Pay attention to which holes you knock out of the new cover. Not all of them are there and some they patern you wont need.
If you have AC none of the holes are pre-cut for you.

Attatch and tighten your AC hoses to the evaporatore before you hang the unit under the dash. You may have to deal with the hoses while your trying to lift and lign up the unit, but thats easier than trying to tighten them thru the glove box door hole.
I had to make a custom wrench to do this.
Also attache and clamp the heater hoses to the core before hanging the AC unit. You wont be able to clamp them once the unit is installed.

First couple of sets are the firewall install:
Doing is myself I didnt have anybody to hold it up for me. So I used some cut up heater hose to hold it up for me while I located the fastner holes from the other side.

First two are the firewall before the cover. Note the two lower heater hose holes. Those are the ones used for Factory AC/Heater. The upper two arent used.

This set is the firewall cover being installed. Which reminds me of something else I learned today.

Install the gas pedal before you push the pins thru the cover. It dont fit thru the hole and you cant remove the pins once you push them trhru the firewall.
