Last of the harness install:
Man! You wouldnt believe how good it feels to have a plug for every lead on your harness. To not have mystery wires hanging around, with screwed up hack jobs.
This harness was/is the best harness for these old trucks that I have ever seen. (never seen an NOS one and every other one Ive seen was cut in one place or another)
I went thru every inch of this harness. Every end had a plug and only one splice from where someone installed a radio.

re: 70 F-250 cab swap - Continued
There were some problems. I didnt realise that the AC hose hole into the engine bay wasnt pre-punched intill after I installed the firewall cover. And the engine is already installed so I had to work around it to get the hole punched.
I also didnt realise how hard it would be to tighten the evap and xvalve hoses thru the glove box door opening. I had to make a custom tool for doing that. Because I didnt want to remove the AC unit once I had it installed.

re: 70 F-250 cab swap - Continued
Just remembered something else I learned today:
The ignition switch is different from 70 to 72.
The switch I pulled from the 70 wouldnt fit the 72 harness. One has round pins and the other has spades.
And there is supposed to be a metal drain for the AC evap. Not just a rubber hose dangling out thru the firewall.
The last pic is whats left of the damaged AC unit after I dropped it and switched cases.

re: 70 F-250 cab swap - Continued
Thanks for the comments everyone. Im having fun.
Progress today:
Wideguage dropped by today to help me get the bed fliped over on the bench and the cab tightened permanantly down to the frame.
We measured from the back of the frame forward and 'bumped' the cab a few times to get it centered then he tightened it down.
Also put the upper and lower valence's on, the radiator, AC condensor, and grill surround on.
He was a big help putting the steering column and brake booster in too.
We even put the dash pad in. (not bolted down yet)
I tell ya, a few more days like this and Ill be burnin gas. Gotta at least fire that FE up. She hasnt been breathing in over 6 months. Sittn is the worst on a running engine.
After he left I tightened a few more bolts and set the guage panel in the dash. (not screwed in) Then I couldnt stand it anymore so I put the seat in place just to see what its gonna look like. (doing the happy dance )

Still need to do some adjusting on the hood to get the gap in the back right. But I think it works.

The steering column went black because Im out of paint except for a can of black engine enamel. Wish I could have painted that body color too but I guess I can do that anytime.

This would be the reason it may seem like Ive done alot in a short time.
Its because untill now Ive basicaly ignored the bed and tailgate.
I still got a a lot of work ahead of me but being able move the truck around on its own power will help me out alot
I wish I could just find a better bed but like most of this project has gone. I gotta use what Ive got.

Never to many pix! I can't speak for everyone but I love to see progress!! If I can't do that to my own truck I can live it through someone elses project. Your doing a great job, keep up the good work. Oh-yea, when are ya gonna post more pix?Sharkdance wrote:More? Maybe I took too many pix?
