Thanks. I haven't done the wiring yet, I still haven't found an engine/tranny for it. The guy with an 86 thunderbird with a 302 actually had a NINETY six t-bird with a 3.8. I know ten years and two cylinders are pretty close but sheesh. :shaking head:

Cool. I thought I had seen those other ones on page 2...then saw the photoshop picture. Was confused for a minute.

Thanks. I like the gray primer look.

Well, I've decided to go WAY out into uncharted territory here and put a 4.6 mod motor in the truck. I've done a lot of research and thinking and I think I can pull it off and get a lot of benefits from it since I have the whole car and can use almost all of the electronics, HVACs and other do-dads. Here's the donor...

I'll keep you guys posted on the progress as I go along on this. I'm doing this totally alone and in my driveway so I'm sure it's gonna take a while, But I've done a complete resto before this way and it turned out very well.

Tell me what you think of this project. Am I ambitious or just plain crazy?

ok, I'm going to have to reel you in on this one. The motor in that vicky is a turd. What is that a 94 or 95. The tranny is weak and expensive to fix. If you had a 99 and up vicky then I would say go for it, but the 94/95 4.6 had 205/215 hp and 260/270 ft-lbs of torque. Plus it is big and heavy. The 4.6L (281 cubic inches) is the same physical size as a 460 (7.5L). Don't do it. Waste of energy for what you get. I know you have the whole car, but don't do it. Sell the vicky and find a 97/98 Mark VIII and get the 32V motor if you want something different and cool. Or, find a 99 and up vicky, mustang, or truck. They all have about 260hp and 300 ftlbs of torque.
If you are just trying to be different, then I would find a 2-3k mark VIII and swap it all over. It would be cool to see a 32v motor in the bay.

This of course is just my opinion. Its your project and you time/money.

Thanks for the comment. Here are my reasons for this particular car.
1. I already have it so it's no $ spent to begin with.
2. I know it's not a powerhouse engine but that's not what I want. I want a reliable daily driver that gets good gas mileage but still has decent pickup and runs smooth. I've had this car for two years and it runs great, the PO put a new tranny in it and it works perfectly and it gets 22+mpg where I live. And this engine is a smooth as a baby's butt. NO skips or vibrations at all.
3. The car has all the electronic do-dads I want in the truck including automatic climate control, power everything, digital dash and cruise control.
4. I can say I did the whole truck on a super tight budget. I have less than a grand in it now and when done, I should be under the 2 grand mark, that includes the cost of both vehicles, paint, rims, tires, and engine swap.

I love the way ford put these together, I didn't even have to open the ac lines or even cut a wire.
