more gremlins
some times when i go to start ol blue up it barely cranks over. so i let it sit for a few seconds and each time i crank it over, it gets faster until it finally gets enough rpms to fire over. then some times i crank it over and it cranks fast and fires after one or 2 cranks. then sometimes it will barelly crank so i let go of the key then immediatley try again and i turns over real fast and fires up.
i cleaned the posts and connections and it still does it. could it be my relay?

It's possible. Have you tried "jumping" the solenoid (shorting the Battery side to the first small connector)? If that makes it start ok, the solenoid is good. Could also be a loose/ dirty connection at the starter, or the starter solenoid/ gear assembly dragging. Hope this helps.

the solenoid is going out. 2 of my trucks do that same thing. but one of them was replaced 18 months ago for the same problem.

re: more gremlins
If it does the slow turnover thing when it is hot it may be the starter. Those of us with headers have a lot of experience with ruined starters. If you don't have headers then I would try Mohillbilly's suggestion and clean the starter post and also check the battery to engine ground.

re: more gremlins
Alot of times these old fords starters drag when they get hot.
Is it hot when it drags or cold?
also the timing being to far advancet will make the engine fight the starter
I dont know food for thought anyway...
