Any Michigan members want to meet up?

Post by FORDification »

This subject was intially off-topic in another unrelated thread, so I thought I'd continue it here instead. As mentioned several weeks ago, I bought a choptop truck project in Michigan and will be headed from Nebraska to Michigan to pick it up in about three weeks. 67 highboy and Tim P. both extended an offer for any help if needed.

Anyway, I definitely appreciate the offers, guys! I'm going to a little town south of you guys called Vermontville, which is about 700 miles from here, according to Mapquest. Tentatively we're scheduled to head out on Thursday evening Oct 12th and will drive all night (while the kids are sleeping). We'll try to sleep some on Friday but hope to be there in the vicinity by Friday night. We'll then get up and hopefully get everything loaded up on Saturday, and will probably head back home on Sunday. I'm taking Thursday through the following Wednesday off work though, just to make sure we leave ourselves enough time to get everything taken care of....and where we can make the trip back a little slower, just to let the kids get out now and then to run around in a park somewhere to burn off some energy. :D

However, since there would probably be an extra day to kill if we want it (that Sunday), I was wondering if you guys would be busy on Sunday Oct. 17th. Maybe we could come up with a place in between you two to meet up for a few hours, and have a mini Meet & Greet? Is there anyone else from the forums in that general vicinity who would be interested?

Sure, sounds good to me.
I would like to see that chop top in person anyway. I was watching it as well when it sold.
I am not sure whoelse is from the area but it would be great to invade someplace with a bunch of bumpsides :D :D

Cool! Now we'll just have to come up with a time and place to meet. Did you guys get a chance to check out the map to see where I'm headed? Do you know of a good spot in that general vicinity to at least sit and talk trucks for a while? Might be a good idea to have something close that the wife and kids could do in the meantime, too. ;)

I think I could head across the river for that! Doubt there'd ever be a Meet & Greet any closer

Uh....sorry about this, but apparently there's a change of plans. When my wife and I were discussing making this trip, we initially thought that it would have to be the weekend of Oct. 14-15. But something came up with my wife's work, and now those dates won't work. Everything's been bumped up a week, so it NOW looks like we'll be leaving Nebraska on Thursday Oct 5th and hopefully getting there by Friday night October 6th. Then we'll load up the truck on Saturday 7th.....so if we do this Meet and Greet, it'll have to be Sunday the 8th.

I hope nobody's made any plans yet that will be messed up by this change of dates....sorry about that, but those dates are the only dates we can make the trip. With my wife working nights as an RN at the hospital and then teaching Lamaze classes during the daytime once or twice a week, her getting away is next to impossible!

Let me know if this will work for you guys.

As for where in Vermontville we'll be headed....I entered the street address into Mapquest and it appears that they live about 2-3 miles due east of town on the W. Vermontville Hwy.
