re: Pics of progress

I'll answer the question before posting new pics. The frame is about an inch or so below the rockers with the body mounts in place.

So I did manage to get some work done this weekend even though I worked fri and sat night. Sunday was busy...

Here's how I started, I had to lop off the rear section of the frame because I figured it would be easier to mount the bed to the frame if the mounts were in the original location...

Image

So I welded the rear section where it was supposed to go and made the hole in the bed. I could have left the original cross braces but I'm going to mount the fuel tank behind the axle. I'm going to make the new floor symetrical to match the contours of the wheelwells.

The black plastic bag you see is the fuel pump, I wrapped it up until I can get it back in the tank.
Here she is looking a lot more like she is supposed to.

My wife jokingly said I was spending more time with the truck than with her. She said she was an evil bitch and called her my mistress. She named her "Christine" after the car in the movie. So I guess my truck now has a name too.

Next time, steering wheel, brake and throttle pedal mounting.

Yeah I already did. I actually took the frame rails I cut off, flipped them over and welded them back on. That put em in the right place to mount the bed at the original location.

Oh ok. Man that thing is sitting sweet right now. I love that stance. How much of a drop do you figure that is?

I'm thinking about a 6-7 drop, the rear will come down a little more after I get everything put back on (including the cover for the floor section I cut out) because I can cut a little out of the rear coils (until I go with bags).

That is about what I had figured. Man that thing is gonna drive good with that suspension under it.

nope, I just cut off the rail, spun it 180 degrees and welded it back on. I'll get pics of it this weekend.

Not too shaby smokey. Question on trim/Mirror and bullet Holes, Would it be easier And use less wire to tack in a bolt and then grind it down or is that still weld/wire intensive?

your gunna have to tack all the way around the bolt regaurdless. I would personally (if not too big) just use wire.

Smokey that pickup is going to drive soooo good. Geez I wish I had something like that to toy around with. You should drop in a 32v 4.6 DOHC with a twin screw blower.
