I have got a decision to make.maybe somebody out there can help me out.I have a 69 f-100 with a 6 cylinder i am putting back together.I cannot make my mind up.I have the original 3 speed for it.I also have a c4 automatic from my 67.What do you think I should use? What do you think would be best in driveability? What would be easier to put in?
Well this a hard question to answer. It boils down to how to want to use the truck. Any towing in the future? Use the 3 spd. If its just cruisng and light hauling I like an auto. It will be for you easier to use to 3 spd. Linkage issues to mate the C-4. How you gonna shift it? I got used to my auto although I will sometimes shift it manually to get a little more grunt out of it.

I have a complete truck with all the linkage and steering column. It also has a power steering set-up with the bendix steering. How reliable is the bendix set-up.I have heard some stories of it leaking around the seals.
The Bendix box isn't the greatest, but if you have it available put some new gaskets in it and use it.
I have a C6 in my F250 and I really like it The C4 can be built into a very tough tranny. Personaly, I say if you have the parts available to install he C4,
I'd go for it.
