Took my truck apart (pics added)
My neighbor and I started the floor pan/cab mount project Sunday. We took the hood and fender off so we could get at the mount. Now that the fender is off, I'm gonna replace the cracked exhaust manifold while I can see what I'm doing. It would probably be a good idea to replace the coil springs with all that stuff out of the way. Heck I could even work on the rusted fender while it's off, do the disc brake conversion, new shocks, engine rebuild, repaint,........ I'm scared. I better get this thing back together quickly before it stays in pieces in my neighbors driveway for the next, who knows how long.

Oh boy!!!! That is always how it starts! By brother in-law put his '66 Nova in the garage to put new brake lines on it and that was 5 years ago.
Your right, you better get it back together befor it is too late!

re: Took my truck apart
Yup, get it back together before the Iotta's get you.
You know how that goes: Iotta do this while it's apart, and Iotta do THAT while I can get to it.....
That's what happened with my '68. But since I now have a '69, the '68s gonna become a trailer.
Get it back together FAST!

Right now its in the pouring rain. I'm off work tomorrow. My new exhaust manifold came today, that will be tomorrow's project. A friend at work who used to wrench professionally loaned me all his stud extraction tools. I hope I don't need them.

re: Took my truck apart (pics added)
If you can start it and let it run for a few to warn things up it will come apart a lot easier. Mine only had two studs on the passenger side all others were bolts. I replaced all my bolts with grade 5 this is the hardest that lowes had at the time.

Did that manifold job today. Top front bolt snapped off when I put the socket on it. I didn't even get to put any pressure on it. The other top bolts needed direct heat on the ears to free them up. I used the cutting torch to remove the broken one (a piece of aluminum protected to alternator) and ran a tap through the hole to clear out the slag. Checked the flatness on the manifold and found the bolt ears were 1/32" higher than the port walls. Considerable filing and sanding and I hope it seals. New bolts and antiseize too incase it doesn't...
Good luck

It is a one ton! The rears are even bigger and I know they are heavy. I don't even want to know what they'd cost to replace.flyboy2610 wrote:Those are some serious brake dums!

It would have been easier without the radiator mount there. It took two of us and a lot of twisting and bending. I wonder what it's gonna be like to put it back together.dcbullet wrote:So you can get the fender and inner fender off without doing anthing to the radiator mount? Good to know.
