sounds like two or three possable problems:

1.) Bad ground or short or both

2.) Bad flasher unit.

3.)incorrect rewire by a Previous Owner(P.O.)

I'm sure there are other possabilities so someone should be able to cover any i missed. But these are the most common three problems.

Sounds like a bad ground, but it could be a short somewhere. Try the link below. I found them helpfull when I was trouble shooting.

could be your turn signal switch, believe it or not the brake lights are wired through that switch, when mine went bad it did the same weird stuff as yours.

Outstanding there My Brother!

Ya' Know When a guy has to work on these confounded contraptions a little sense of humor can make all the difference in the world...

At least that's what I've come to realize. :hmm:

Now that you mention it, way back in high school I had a 74 Mazda RX4 Coupe with a 13B Rotory engine.
Anyway after returning from lunch I parked my Sled and as I was walking away I glanced back at it and noticed that my exhaust pipe looked crooked.
I walked back to the rear of my car grabbed the muffler (with both of my hands of course!) and tried to adjust the exhaust.
:cuss: YEOW!!! :cuss:
Almost immediately I yelled "Oh ****!- :x -Rat F&%k!", then I got smart and Let go of the really Hot muffler from my grip.
I looked around and didn't see a soul around that could of seen me. Good I thought to myself.
By this time my hands were pretty red and swollen.
I stopped at the nearest Bathroom, washed my hands in cool water and then proceeded on to my next class.
No worries! 8) By the end of the day my hands felt okay (Aah youth, so forgiving).
Just as if nothing had I drove home and to this day I've only told one soul about my Human Experience. :shh:

Sounds to me like you should be chasing grounds.

Did this just start, or has it been going on for a while? Make sure the bulbs are good and have good contact. Clean contact good when you take them out to check them. Use dielectric grease when reinstalling the bulbs. Then start with the grounds, check rear wiring, and then turn signal switch. Yes, everything that blinks goes through the turn signal switch.
