Clutch size
67 4x4 390/435 Do not know if these came original(haven't ran the block number yet, keep forgetting). Anyway I'm replacing the flywheel, clutch, starter since they are ALL beat up. Anyway I punch in my truck at the parts store and it calls for 11.5" plate the one I pulled was 11". There has been all sorts of misc garbage put on this truck so I'm trying to find which is the correct one. Plus the price diff in between the two is huge.
Here is the question which flywheel, clutch and starter do I need for a 390/435 combo? This truck will rarely see highway driving. It is being built as a rock truck, to go slow and krawl over everything.

Yes just the disc. Would the flywheel off my '70 302/Toploader project jeep work or do I need something bigger?

i searched auto zone for 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton both seem to take a 11 inch disc. www.autozone.com

F100 however it has 77-79 Dana 60's front and rear with a 77 NP205 that is why the question.

The '360' came with 11" disk.
The '390' Some had 11" or 11 1/2" Just match up the old one so it fits
ok. You never know if somebody swapped the flywheel.

That is what I'm trying to figure out. The teeth on the flywheel look "O.K." but the first 1/8th inch or so of teeth on the starter are completely chewed of and part of where the gear slides to engage on the housing(starter) is chewed also. It still starts fine and doesn't make any horrible sound. The clutch is 11" and the flywheel has 184 teeth.

Right on that is what I was thinking. Whatever was in there before seemed to work so I'll just replace everything. The flywheel has cracks all over it and is heavily glazed where the clutch disc hits so it is getting replaced also.

Your engine is not original to the truck if it is a 390. In '67, if it had an FE engine it would have been a 352.

That is the other thing that is bothering me. Since I am replacing flywheel, clutch, starteer and what not.
There is no number behind the starter wher most Fords are stamped. Up front behind pulley on the driver side there is a 352 cast and there is also some upside down or backwards (hard to read) numbers on the driver side just below the heads facing the front of the block.

The 360 and 390 blocks are identical externally. The only way of differentiating between the two, since there are no external markings to tell you what you've got, is to measure the stroke. Simply rotate the crankshaft around until the #1 cylinder is at TDC (top dead center) as indicated at the timing mark. Remove the spark plug and insert a wooden dowel into the cylinder until you hit the top of the piston and make a mark on the dowel. (Use the valve cover lip as a constant reference source.) Then remove the spark plug from the #4 cylinder (when #1 is TDC, #4 is BDC) and make another mark on the dowel. Then measure the difference. A 360 has a 3.50" stroke and a 390 has a 3.78" stroke.

352's, 360's, and 390's all have that 352 cast into the block.

I finally got this figured out. The crazy noise and showering of sparks was caused by the throw out bearing. I am guessing somehow the clutch fork wasn't secured properly to the bellhousing and it caused the bearing to misallign slighty with the three fingers on the clutch. There is a groove on the side of the bearing that fits perfect with one of the fingers. This would also explain the sporatic clutch engage and disengagement.
So now I have to figure out why the fork and "spring wire" isn't secure to the bellhousing. The boot that closes up the shift fork hole into the bellhousing is gone, would this boot play a role in securing the shift fork?
