Now its looking better. Get rid of the grease crud and rust and she'll be in good shape in no time.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

yep, once I can get a pressure washer my way, it will be rolled onto the driveway and sprayed down real good. Not much rust really.

just an update.

the long block accessories are off. Heads come off later this afternoon, or tomorrow. It Turns over no problem, not catches, no grinding. After talking to people here and there, some local, some far, I have come to what I want to do process wise with the motor.

I am going to re-ring the pistons, and hone the cylinders, given they are in a condition not needing a bore. New bearings, acid dip the block and heads, and possibly have the heads rebuilt if needed. This should "refreshen" the motor, but not rebuild.

well, its been a little bit....

The motor was taken to the machine shop for rebuild. Only needed to be bored out .030 over, and the crank was turned down .010, not bad I don't think. I have to take him a few more pieces, but other than that, I am on my way to....dare i say...a RUNNING TRUCK! Hope to order my weiend stealth intake, and start on my brakes shortly :). All new drums all around, may get away with just new internals....probably not though. Atleast I can use the rear drums once my frame is built, for a while anyways.

I will get some more of the progress I have made cleaning up the front frame and firewall. Its getting there, but having the wiring harness in, has proven to be a pain........and it's a hack harness anyways. Just want it in long enough to run the new motor in the garage for a while. Let the rings seat and everything, then I will drain it and add my own oil and stuff, run it a bit, then it's on to building my frame :)

This is a picture of the truck prior to getting pressure washed. Can anyone tell which side of the motor was leaking?!?! lol lol

Alright, this set of pics is after I rolled it out of the garage to get a bath, and rolled it back in.

Now, this is a HUGE improvement over how it was when I got it.

That engine does indeed look "seasoned"

Good luck with your rebuild

let me say this.....while aircraft stripper may work, it only works on ***** paint. It ook the top layer of primer and crap paint off in a heartbeat, but the original paints, it just wouldnt budge hardly.

So off to lowes I went. I picked up a air rotary tool, and some paint/rust strippers which in my eyes, after tonite, are god by all means of paint removal. I only got three, and went through about 2, maybe a little less, but not worth really using the second anymore other than large flat areas.

On to the pic of what got done.

me hard at work.

not a TON, but it is a LOT compared to what the aircraft stripper did.
