Edlebrock Auto kick down pics

Post by CJ,s 67 F100 »

Edlebrock 1406 Carb. with Edlebrock 1483 Ford Throttle lever adapter kit. This is the Edlebrock adapter kit for the Ford automatic transmission kick down lever. It only took 15 min. to install and was easy. It works as good as the Holley with the auto kickdown already on it. We had to adjust it several times as we had it kicking in to early. All you need to adjust it is a 5/16 nut driver and you don't even have to remove the air breather to do it. We like it.

Looks good man. If it works as good as it looks you got a winner there.

np, I haven't gotten around to the '72 for a while. I have too many other things going on as well. I'll be lucky if I get the new tie rods I have had for 2 months, on the truck this weekkend

how inportant is a kick down, I have 4.11 rear with 550 hp and 600 ft lbs torque. seems any gear is going to be passing gear.
However I've heard that you may burn up the trans if it can not down shift when needed but I think 4.11 will not let if "bog".

Keith, I think the kick down feature is important. We had 418hp with the Holley on ours but it seems like a lot less with this Edlebrock. imo the less hp you have the more you need it. You on the other hand may not need it at all but it still makes a huge difference when it kicks in.

JD, The mileage/power loss still there. CJ likes the daily drivability better with The Edlebrock than the Holley and he is buying the fuel so I'm taking the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. After riding with Matt and his truck with the 2.73 gears in it versus our 3.50 gears I will put a taller set of gears in the 67 later. I,m thinking 3.00 right now.

Ezernut9mm, We got that colored vacum hose from Auto Zone. It even had one for the power brake booster but it kept getting sucked flat so we did away with that one and went with fuel line on it.

69F110, Thanks. We like the stance on the 68 High Boy as well. Can't wait to get it home. We will be doing a budget build on it. I have most every thing we need to get it going already. Even going to do the Rustoleum paint job on it. Although I might spray it instead of roll it. Right now I'm thinkng that Rustoleum Hunter Green and White. White cab top and white below the bump. Hunter Green in the middle

wow- matt's running 2.73's? Still got good KICK? i want to change gears in my 77 x-cab and thought about the 2.73's also.

bought an engine awhile back with a brand new edelbrock-- i've been Holley for so long i'm kinda scared of learning the edelbrock - but it's the same thing-- elec. choke and the better half will be driving this also and she has problems with the manual choke scenario

thanks for the info Mr. C

JD, I am not going to learn the Edlebrock carb. As long as it behaves it gets to stay, but first time it gives me a problem my 4150 Holley is going back on
