Now I've got to clean up and put the pieces back together.

Nice job! It didn't look hack to me. I see a nice new exhaust manifold with crisp hardware!
Thanks for the pics.

I drove it home tonight. Nice and quiet. Now that the cab is sitting on the frame right, the hood doesn't line up right. It'll need some tweaking. But it was nice to drive it after a month.

They look just like the original. Two pieces of heavy guage stamped sheet metal welded together. The bolt hole for the mount to the frame is not drilled, and there is no hole to bolt the rubber strap from the inner fender to the mount. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the second missing hole until everything else was together and there was no way to get a drill in there to make a hole.

The truck's name is actually Francis. It's from the movie "Stripes" . "Settle down Francis". I think I told the story somewhere else here.71 LONG BED wrote:Welcome home "'Ol Blue, the flatbed"!
I got to clean it up, put what's left of the floor mat down and install my "new" (to me) ebay sill plates. It sure is nice to drive the truck without that awful exhaust leak. I hate that ticking noise of a leaky exhaust manifold. It's also much quieter with no holes in the floor. Now I won't have to worry about CO poisoning.
It actually seems more powerful now too! Maybe that's only because it makes less noise and seems to take less effort to get moving. The only problem is that now I can hear the valve train rattling and there's a bit of a knock on acceleration. I guess that'll be another project. Most importantly, I can drive my old truck again.
