Rusty hood

Post by marz68 »

I put the hood on my truck this weekend so that I could take it to the shop and figure out what i'm going to do with it. It's been sitting in my back yard uncovered wich is why it rusting out.
The cab floor is coming out ok, I just need to fab up some mounts for the shifter and the floor will be done and ready for dynamat.
Here are some pics.

The hood is on but not bolted on yet.

This is how the hood looked before I cleaned it up.

Seam sealer was applied to the areas that were welded for a good seal.

Looks awesome Marcelo! Are you still going to try the hinges from an F600? The floor came out great too. Thanks for the pics. :D

Looks like the '49 (or is it a '50?)Ford in the background is in the bed.

It looks like only surface rust from here. I would primer that sucker after cleaning it off.

Well this is what I have planned for the hood, I am going to section the hood and weld it back so that the front sits lower than the rear, once that is done I am going to weld the hood to the fenders and also to the cowl once that is done I am going to cut the hood from the top (don't know how much yet) to make it open like the new F150's.
The front area will get a roll pan welded to it at the bottom and a 60's mustang bumper will be stretched and bolted to the front.
The lower body line will be made so that it wraps around the rear of the truck, this part will be tacked in place to make sure it is going to look OK before I weld it in.

Yeah that FORD in the background dose look like it's in the bed
That car was offered to me free but I don't think I will ever get to work on it any time soon.

    I wish I could stumble across a deal like that. A guy up the street bought an all original unrestored near mint '51 business coupe from his uncle for $4000!! As great a shape as the car is in, the motor is stuck. It sat so long it no longer turns. So there it sits. It was preserved in a garage for 30+ years, now it sits in his driveway to rust away. What a shame. :o

By the way, your hood plans sound awesome! Should be pretty cool to have a flat hood.

Why do you think I didn't show a pic from the drivers side :D
I would love to primer it but I still have to grind and cut the roof, hood and bed.

Marcelino,

The plan for the hood sounds great. Thanks for the pics man! It is not my style, but I like it.
