Just made it back about an hour ago with the new pickup! :D :D I've got pictures, but haven't got them posted yet. My day started at 7:00 and got home alittle after 9:30. Just too beat. I found out it is not a 1972 but a 1971 F100 ranger XLT, original 390, 2 barrel carb, factory air, after market cruise, 9" rearend, C6 trans. No rust to speak of, just alittle where the paint had chipped,( from road gravel etc.) the hood has some surface rust that the PO had tried to spray primer over but didn't work very well. One small dent on the passenger front corner that looks like it can be easily repaired. The 390 was supposedly rebuilt 2 years before the original owner died, then it sat for a few years. When the new owner got around to trying to starting it, he said he put a battery in and primed the carb and started right up but ran alittle rough, then he let it warm up and shut it off. The next day it wouldn't start. He said he pulled the dist cap and the roter wasn't turning and he thinks it's probably is the timing chain. Well thats everything I know so far. tomorrow I'll check it out closer and will hopefully know more. We'll see if my $100 investment is worth it. I'll try to post some pics too.

sounds like you got a nice score on it and if it doesn't work out, you can sell the parts and get you money back real easy.
