Well Here was my original thoughts on what I wanted to replace my '73...
- '65-'79 F-100/150
- Engine in any condition (including gone)
- Any conditon manual trans
- SOLID AND VERY RUST FREE!
- REALY good 300 I-6 and 3-speed (in the '73)
- A 9" out of a '75 with 3.70:1 gears
- 2 sets of front Disk Brakes
- An automatic column (short) from a '75
- a Saginaw P/S box and pump from a '73
- And the '73 has P/B.
My thoughts where as follows...
- It has solid cab mounts and the bed is in great shape
- the frame is the same as the F-100/150s
- The engine and rear end could be sold off
- It has a 4-speed on the floor
- Fix the small rusty spots in the floor and sound deaden and insulate it
- Re-build a set of I-Beams and Disk Brakes from an F-100/150 and put them on
- Take out the Dana 60 and put the 9" in, but keep the 250 springs for the ocational load
- Check wirring and wire for DSII
- Swap the Power Brakes over
- Swap over the 300 and 3-speed on-the-tree
So here are some questions...
- Can I use the 9" from the '75 under it with the 250 springs?
- When I do the I-Beam swap should I use the linkage for a '67 or a '75?
- Is this not going to be a bitchen ride!
