I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

It shouldn't, it should be a 4r70 or perhaps an AODE, either way only the early '92 CV's had the previous 302 type bellhousing after mid Januaryy of '92 Ford switched them to the modular housing. I am sure there is an adapter out there somewhere though. One thing, these AODE's are very tempermental, I have one in my '92 GMQ and it does all kinds of goofy things, finally upgraded the fluid to MerconV and it helped some. My car oly puts out 190-200hp I'd hate to see what the tranny would do with a 250+hp engine.
I thought they changed to 4R70 in '96 but could be wrong or he is wrong on the year. that tranny should fit pretty much any modular engine, most likely of a romeo cast.

re: a4ode?
You need an AOD. They are non electronic and easier to adapt to older stuff without computers. Happen to have one in my garage right now....

i have one in a t-bird likely the longer shafted one. And slip yoke not bolt on yoke. but i hear that the end housing unit/output unit can be adapted or swapped over.
And i most likely have it sold the bird that is. So no aod there any more.
my biggest concern on any aod trans is the mounting point on the frame.

I believe the Vic's were one of the first cars to use the 4.6 mod motors, but I could be wrong. Maybe that's why he says it will only fit a Vic?

I do agree with GT-racer; a regular non-computer controlled AOD would be your best bet, and possibly your best investment considering gas prices.
