Starting problem???
I have an issue w/my engine turning over. One day I started it she was running then suddenly turned off, to not start again. It got cold after sitting for a couple of days, then I jumped her and all she did was turn and turn, not start. After turning for a bit, the battery started dying. I'm wondering if this is an alternator problem or maybe even as easy as a fuel filter problem. I'm in the process of getting some extra gas to drop in the carb to she if she fires to eleminate the fuel filter prob. Any help would do, thanx to all and

Check solinoid or see if coil is getting juice.

re: Starting problem???
Well today went out dropped some gas in the carb, jumped her and she fired back up for about 4-5 mins, then shut off again. Put some more gas back in the carb she fired back up, turned off, then continued to crank her then the battery started dying. Still a solenoid prob? How about fuel filter or fuel pump?

This is a good sign that the electronic are working ok. When you say ran for 4-5 min was that just idlinging or did you try to rev it up any? I am leaning toward a fuel sytem problem. Try to test the fuel pump output by pulling the line to the carb and cranking the engine over. You should get a nice shot of fuel about every second or so. Use a plactic or glass bottle to put the hose in or youll spray gas over everthing.jokqs wrote:Well today went out dropped some gas in the carb, jumped her and she fired back up for about 4-5 mins, then shut off again. re: Starting problem???
Since this problem seems to be fuel-related, and you've started a thread regarding this in the Engine section, I'm locking this thread so we don't have two identical threads going at the same time.
