I'm thinking fordman was on the right track. On the old F600's, rather than having a "solid wheel", didn't some have multi-piece wheels? I'm not talking about a split rim, but one that has the one piece center w/face that bolts to the axle, and a separate rim? It looks kind of like a 5 spoked wheel when all is mounted. The spare tire has the rim part on the tire but no center. The 2 pieces are clamped together with a thing like what's pictured. The large curved inside of the piece fits on a "knob" on the end of the center's spoke to prevent rotation while the tooth on the end clamps into a groove on the outer rim piece.
Maybe I'm wrong and waaay off, but that's my best guess.

It definitely is a dizzy clamp, just what motor it's from is the question. It looks almost exactly like the one I have on my 302. The only difference is it isn't cast iron. It looks machined.
It is a distributor hold down clamp from an FE block.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!kknip wrote:How about the dizzy clamp off a 429-460?
Yes, this is the distributor hold-down clamp for the 335-series engine, the 429/460.
It's very similar in appearance to the small-block hold-down clamp, which is why it was throwing you guys off. In fact, after 71 LONG BED's guess of a small-block clamp, it got me to wondering, so I made a special trip all the way across town to the shop in order to pull one for comparison...(and believe me, I got from my wife for doing so!)
Here's a side-by-side comparison shot. The small-block clamp is on the left, the 429/460 version is on the right:
As you can see, they are virtually identical...except that the 429/460 piece is nearly twice as thick. However, they each use the exact same bolt.
So kknip: did you know this or was it a guess, based on what everyone else was saying? Doesn't matter, as your answer goes down in the logs as the first correct answer of the Ford Truck Trivia contest.

Distributor hold down for a 460, as far as I can tell.

I realized it wasn't cast iron, but I wasn't sure if all of the small block clamps were cast. They do look as though they are interchangable.
I almost had it. Next time! This is fun, when is the next one?

O.K.
I have to admit. That one had me.
I agree that it looked like a dizzy clamp. But Ive never seen one that stout.

Actually,I did guess,I knew it was a dizzy hold down clamp, after everyone was guessing the different series of engines and had not mentioned the 335 series,I figured it had to be it.Although I did think of the Cleavland family, they did not appear until the dents were made.
