truck bed toolbox recommendations

Post by cjs_72f250 »

well, even though I'm dealing with the loss of my grandpa, it helps being in good company like you guys with your support and it helps to keep talking shop...

so, my question is what would you guys recommend for a truck bed toolbox and why:

- saddle box
- crss box

i need to get a toolbox in my bed for storage and i'm not sure which is more convenient, the split type (cross) or the flat (saddle). i'm thinking of getting a diamond plate type (is that the strongest/most durable?)

thanks,
charbel

cross box, if your getting the crome diamond plated one, the saddles i have always found are a pain in the a$$, one the buttons stick and your constanly lubing up the stupid thing, 2, you loose a set of keys and locks are a pain to find. the crossbox are run on one lock not 2, when its cold and you wash your truck you wont get into a saddle. jmo :2cents:

I have one that sits in the bed, goes across but sits under the level of the bed rails. I like it because I plan on getting a cover for the bed.

i have a diamond plate single lid box on my 94. its the deep one. but its not big enough to hold everything. i really want a toolbox bed. i had adual crossover box on my 93 and it leaked at the hinges.

i like the bedside boxes that run the length of the bed, the only space you lose is over the wheelwells.
i do not care for the saddle type, too hard to reach stuff in the center on a 4x4, and from inside the bed the door is in the way so i might as well have a single lid.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
