OK, this pictures shows 4 items that are found on a lot of trucks, but not all. Actually, all trucks have similar items, though they vary depending on how the truck is optioned. (I can't say any more without giving it away.) These are roughly 1/2" in diameter.

Yep I think he nailed it with the head dowels.
1969 Ford F-100. 302 4 barrel, C4 auto, 9in 3.50 open rear, headers, power steering, Turq/wht, Under restoration. In other words, in a million pieces!!!

Yes, FoMoCo got it right ...those are the dowels inserted into the deck of the block for locating the cylinder heads.
FYI: All Ford I6's and small-blocks (302/351/400) use the same, and FE's and 335's (429/460) use another. The ones pictured above are the FE/335 style.
