Front cap finally roughed in
I finally got the front cap roughed in on my 71 this weekend. The front valence is welded and has not been smoothed out yet, seams in the hood and roof have been welded and smoothed, but I need to block the hood again, but you can tell about what it will look like. I am thinking about cutting fog lights into the front valence, but I can't decide if I want round or square, give me your opinions.

Man that looks good. I especially like the filled seam on the hood.

That DOES look good! I was just thinking the other day about maybe trying something like your front valance. Now I have a visual...
So the seams you filled in the hood and cab were all even and level before you started welding? I would also like to fill the seams, but on every hood and cab I've seen, the two pieces aren't lined up well, meaning one side's higher than the other....which would be a lot of work trying to smooth them out.

Thanks for the comments.
The seams weren't too even or level before I started welding. The main part of the hood was higher, so I had to add a piece of 22 ga. sheetmetal on the nose of the hood which came close to flushing it out.

How about round fog lights in a square recess (mimic the headlights)? Kinda like some Subaru model uses, but perhaps not way out at the corners ...
