trans cooler lines

How crucial are the tranny cooler lines, I'm just trying to get it together and use it for back and forth to work (soon as I get release from Dr and find work)the lines I took off were mangled spliced and leaking . I really don't have the funds right now to buy the materials and a bender, gonna take some engineering with the Mustang radiator anyhow.
It's not like I'm gonna be driving 150-200 miles a day or hauling any thing, just me and the vehicle weight. Any feed back ?

Heat is a killer for an automatic.

I would do my best to get the old ones back on there and hooked up with a minimum of rubber hose.

Inline tube sells reproductions out of standard steel as well as stainless. I am not sure how much that helps with the non stock radiator.

And make sure the line from the pump goes to the bottom of the cooler. That way it fills from the bottom and empties at the top. You will get better cooling that way.
