re: The 70 crew's progress
This weekend I installed a Mallory unilte dizzy and accel wires to do away with the durajunk setup I had on there. Just tired of too many pieces in a system to give me a headache and put my 750 carb back on. It all needs fine tuning but runs better than it has been for a while now.
2nd on the list is I purchased a set of 1200 mi used Pitbull rockers 35x14.5x16.5's, got them mounted and here is a couple pics. Yes they are noisey and do vibrate when cold or rolling slow on the asphalt but thats why I have a 4wd. I didn't want to stay with 16.5's but the deal was too good to pass up and I think I have found a set of beadlocks I'll be purchasing soon so I can air them down to single digits. let me know what you all think of them?

re: The 70 crew's progress
Couple weeks ago we wet sanded it and painted it with flat black rustoleum, so it didn't look like a pile of thrown together parts. Next upgrade is to send off a 78-79 4x4 box to be ported for the rsm assist hoses at redneck PS and box in the front of the frame on both sides with a custom front crossmember, and swap out the 2wd box I currently have for the upgraded 4x4 box. All this followed by changing out my leafs for a coil suspension. Hopefully our house will sell and I can do all this with some room in a 3 car garage Wishfull thinking.

I like it. The flat black looks good. That seat sure looks comfy.

Well the crew is down with the whole front clip off and I yanked the cam, lifters and timing set for a new larger lift set. Last week I had a lifter fail and eat up a lobe, hence the reason for getting into this deal. I'll post pics of the cam and lifter tomorrow. So while I was at it a new pan gasket and a 6in tall K&N filter. new cam is a Comp Cam 514 intake and 524 ex, along with the Performer RPM intake that was recently added. Next couple months will hopefully get some DOVE heads with some oversized valves in them and roller rockers. Suspension plans are just held up a bit now.
Gotta say it has been getting great gas mi sitting in my buddy's driveway this week.LOL

re: The 70 crew's progress
I like the DOVEs (C8VE/C9VE) heads. They will work well with the RPM intake. One thing though. Unless you really port the heads and rev the motor to 5000 RPM and above, you won't really get much from the bigger valves. If you have to replace them anyway and it isn't costing you much to cut new seats then go for it, but you will loose a little torque down low.
