Okay LO72 (good name abbreviation), here comes some encouragement. You need to get that truck back on the road and enjoy it while you are building your new frame. I didn't realize how much you had already done to your truck. It is really coming along. Just because you can't build a new frame for it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Put it together as is with the emphasis on roadworthiness and safety. Do a $50.00 paint job (inside and out) on it while you are driving it and get a new blanket seat cover for it (just to have something new and useful inside it), maybe an aftermarket steering wheel (this always helps keep me interested) and get a Dashmat( not a dash cover) with your initials or the name of the truck on it or remove the dashpad if it is cracked too badly. I am sure some of the items you might need are available here for little or no money down (oops, sound like an infomercial for buying houses) from someone. What do you need to put it back together and make it drivable? You doing too good a job to stop now. Is this enough or do I need to keep going?

i agree with trukrazy, you have gone way to far to stop now and lose interest. is there something else going on? i dont mean to pry and im not trying to tell you what to do, but when i saw it was for sale, and that you were giving up on it, it was kinda sad for me, i was really looking forward to seeing it done. and it looks like your past the halfway mark. do what you gotta do, but what are you going to do once its gone? when i got rid of my first project, i was going crazy because i couldnt find something to do. i still itch even when i know theres nothing i can do while im waiting for the paint to dry or the next trip to pick up some sandpaper. and just like trukrazy stated, i think we are all here to help. tell us what you need, i know i for one got some extra parts laying around i could get rid of. but again do what you gotta do. and do what you think is right. and you are doing a good job, and your beating me to having one slick tricked out ride.

just had to have a comment like that didnt you? I dont agree with lifting trucks, but so be it. Even if it is 4x4. I don't go around screaming that though.

he truck is far from half way done haha. Everything but the body is torn down really. Engine/Tranny/Sheet metal/steering column,/core support/all hoses/tubing/wiring. It has aLOT of work needed for me to feel driving it would be pleasurable. (word?) I don't wnat a lot of steering wheel play, wheel vibrations, brake lag/sponginess. If I put it back together now, it's going to be like a new truck. That is the only way I can see it being worth it.

at this point, it is VERY frustrating, but I guess **** happens. Nothing much I can do about it. I am out looking for a job this week, as well as doing odd jobs for the family. Trying to make whatever money possible. I need front sheetmetal, but would honestly rather buy brand new. I am not one to shape metal haha.

I think the biggest upset right now is trying to do the frame. I know it's not going to be anytime soon, probably not even this year. And well, that sucks. I am going to Mississippi state after next summer, and that almost makes it impossible to build.

I did take the steering wheel and column out. Wasn't too bad. Didnt realize the one was a 12 point star though, what a dumbass I felt like after a while of "WHY DOESNT THIS GRIP!!!". It is out, my dad hates the fact that it is, but that makes it even more worth it IMO. He wants to drive MY truck, so he doesn't have to drive HIS TRUCK. Sorry, his brand new 06 f150 4-door. I guess some people just can't grasp the fact you buy cars to drive them.

i wasn't trying to be negative, just giving a sugestion. If a truck is slammed right it looks good, but when done wrong, it looks crappy. I am sure your doing it right. air bags?, or just springs and hangars? We all have opinions. I personally don't like 4x4's jacked sky high but with a moderate lift. I look at it this way, a restored slammed/lowered bumpside is better than one rusting away in the junkyard or on the crusher. I didn't want to intentially start a yelling contest here. plus the way we were raised has a impact on how we like our vehhicles. i grew up in the country where we used ifted truck and 4wheel drives, so thats how i grew patial to them. If i had the money i would build a lowered street runner. I can understand trying to get a job and work on the truck at the same time, i'm in the same boat. and being 18 and in school don't help much either. i to am heading off to college in wyoming, so my truck will have t osit for a while and not get any attention. Can't wait to see your final project!!!!

I am a city kid living in mississippi haha. It sucks here. Hopefully college up north in mississippi isnt so bad, but who knows.

may come over the fender, but wont come out the hood. I know that much. well.....atleast thats what the tape measure told me. a 30 inch tire will work. Might have to run tubing for fender mounts, but I think you could handle that if it ever became and issue.

What I meant was actually comeing up enough to drive. Not so much clear the tire completely, but enough to turn lock to lock. You answered my question though.

well, tomorrow is final sanding day. tires will get some new air as well. rolling it out to paint the firewall. I think I may spray from the windshield/door edge forward. Hope to spray in the morning as soon as shirwin williams opens. I need wax and grease remover and some cups to measure out in. also some cone filters. hopefully it goes well, wish me luck! I may order my new water pump, valve covers, pulleys, and carb tomorrow as well!

Hey LO72 Iv'e got a edelbrock aluminium reverse rotation water pump and a set of aluminium mustang valve covers ,If you are goin with a serp. belt neither are bran new but i know the water pump has very few miles on it , with a little cleaning and polishing they would look great on that black motor

the serpentine belts are the crazy expensive ones, right? I am just looking to get some stock chrome ones. same with the valve covers. I would like a chrome waterpump, but I can't find one. They are all like 250 and up.
