Wiper arm removal for motor replacement?

Post by 69rangerman »

I ordered a wiper motor assembly off ebay (thanks Tim P.) but when I went out to remove the old one I couldn't even get the wiper arms off.

Chiltons says bend arm back at pivot and remove. Didn't work.

I tried prying the little metal tabs at the base and no luck.

The wiper arms are stuck about half way through their sweep.

Do I have to remove the wiper arms to change the motor?

Thanks.

no you don't but it makes it harder. the wiper motor has arms under the dash that have clips on them. they can be unclipped from the motor. i'm not saying its easy but it can be done i think.

Never mind...I went out and yanked on the arms a couple of time, stuck the key in and they started working again.

Hey...I'll take easy fixes like that any day.

Thanks fordman.

sounds like mine the switch was not completely tightend so you have to jiggle it and then it all works.

The wonders of digital photography. Believe me, if you saw this paint job you would wonder why in the world I would bother protecting it!
