nice!
keith has a real good write-up in the tech section on plumbing an air system into a shop. Have you gotten a chance to read it?
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

No I havent but I got some good info from www.garagejournal.com. That is what turned me off of using PVC.

Several of the threads on compressed air piping at garagejournal.com even refer to my page. 8) Here's the link located on my Oldsmobile site:

Does anyone have a simple formula to figure out how many gallons the plumbing adds to the overall compressor volume. In other words if My tank is 60 gallons and I have 50 feet of 3/4 inch pipe and 40 feet of 1/2 pipe what is the gal. capacity for that much piping? I hope that sounds right? Anyway my math skills are very limited to addition but if I had a formula or a sset standard of for example: every 6 feet of 3/4 pipe = one gallon and every 9 feet of 1/2 = 1 gal. Those are just examples but that is basically what I wanting. It isnt a big deal I was just curious. Thanks

P.S. Keith, Thanks for the link, I just read through it. Lots of good information. Thanks

I think I know a formula but the thing is, iron pipe has funny inside diameters due to the history of pipe and sizing. For iron, the inside diameter is something like 0.622" for 1/2" and 0.824 for 3/4". I'd suggest measuring the actual id's of the pipe you're using.

Once you got that, a formula to figure the length (in inches) to make 1 gallon of pipe volume would be 231 / (pi x radius^2)

(231 cubic inches = 1 US liquid gallon)

I get something like 36 ft. for 3/4" pipe or 63.3 ft. for 1/2" pipe to make 1 gallon. Can someone check this, it's gettin' late. :zz:

Thanks 68F250, that works for me. I just wanted a ballpark estimate nothing fancy LOL. SO I am looking at like 2-3 Gals. added with my plumbing. Thanks again.

Oh Yeah, I like the signature: By far one of the funniest parts of the movie.

Maybe I should have said that differently. A 2 1/2 car shed LOL. The Bump is too long if I have the bed on it so is the other 67, my Blazer is too tall with air in the tires, and my other truck is too tall and too long. I could get the Focus in there though LOL. I have the project 67 in there without the bed an my Blazer in there on 29 inch rollers (which are flat). But yes it is nice to have the garage to store the stuff. Hopefully I will get the blazer finished up soon so I can turn the Bump sideways and start tearing it down to redo. Knowing my luck though I will start on it and get orders and have to move. Oh well, we will see what happens.

Party at Sean's to use his compressor! I got dibs, and the line starts behind me!

Just call me the Incredible Hulk, cuz I'm green with envy and fuming mad at my little ol' compressor now.

Whoever has first dibs is responsible for the wiring and plumbing! As of right now it acts like 3/5th of my vehicles, Just sits there and looks pretty. Sounds good anyways.

Sweet.....sounds like a good price too. I think they were twice that much for one that size at Harbor Freight. But I could be wrong. :hmm:

There is .0277 gal. in 1 foot of 3/4" pipe and .0158 gal. in 1 foot of 1/2" pipe. I have a cool little chart that lists all that information if anyone is interested.

With 50' of 3/4" and 40' of 1/2" you would have about 2 gal. of added capacity.
