does this make sence to you guys? stock yoke Bolt to Bolt Length (in): 1.575 in. Bearing Cap Outside Diameter (in): 1.0625 in
after market yoke Bolt to Bolt Length (in): 1.445 in. Bearing Cap Outside Diameter (in): 1.188 in.
seems to me that theres less material on the aftermarket one that would make it weaker. i measuse mine i the bearing cap is 1.188 and the bolt to bolt is 1.575
if you do the math stock has .5125 and aftermarket has .257 of material betwwen the bolt and the cap.
if you swicth the number around you have about .38 on both.
i think summit has it missed up but i order the wrong one once.
i called them and they have no clue. they just see what i see on there screen
i have to have an aftermarket one because the yoke is threaded and i dont want to machine one unless i have to.
i think summit screwed up myself

hey thats what the guy at summit said . i am going to measure the stock girdle i got from them. its at my buddies shop. i gave it to him beacuse he has a stock yoke and did not come close to the bolts hole on mine if i remember right. don't have any stock yokes around more either. just a mark williams .

You got me confused too! You're talking about an aftermarket 9 inch yoke? Transmission yoke? Sounds like you're switching to a larger series of U-joint too right? Like 1310 to 1350 series?
I guess if your concern is the yoke itself being weaker, it shouldn't be. The yokes for the larger joints are usually proportionally beefier too. Not sure what effect the distance between the bolt holes in the yoke would have on strength, but I do know the U-joint U-bolts are a lot tougher than the straps.

Those girdle deals sure don't look very tough. Us 4x4 guys mill out the threads in the yoke and convert them to run the U-bolts which are way stronger. You can get 3/8" diameter U-bolts for 1350 joints, those buggers are tough! It's a real common deal because all the factory spicer 1350 yokes except dana 60/70 have straps. Buy a 1350 yoke for a 32 spline NP205 for $100 and it comes with the silly straps. Anyway, just an idea.
