Mystery Part
OK - so I was crawling around under the old Ford trying to snap one good pic of the tank switch and the fuel hoses - while I'm under there, I spy this critter. Like a bracelet tightly wrapped around the axle with a sensor to pick up revolutions. There's no wire leading anywhere. Anyone know what it is?
I'm guessing it ain't factory.

Yes, those are magnets from an aftermarket cruise control setup.

re: Mystery Part
Does the truck still have the rest of the cruise control parts on it? I'm curious how it all worked and hooked up to the engine.
Thanks,

Not that I've seen... there's nothing in the cab to operate it with either.roachrider wrote:Does the truck still have the rest of the cruise control parts on it? I'm curious how it all worked and hooked up to the engine.

re: Mystery Part
Well, it's always possible the driveshaft was replaced by a previous owner from a truck with the cruise.

Looks like the truck had the cruise at one time, you can see the pickup sensor in the lower part of the picture.
Don't know if they're still available because I haven't looked recently, but as of a few, (3-4?), years ago you cold still buy those kits at Kragens. $70. I was thinking about getting one, but never got around to it.
