You indicate that you measured 15" clear from outside edge of leaf springs to the inside edge of the fender well.
If you don't want to 'tub' it then you need to measure from the 'inner wheelwell' to the inside edge of the fender well. I'm not sure what that distance is but I know the inner fender will interfere before the leaf spring will. I think 10" wheels is about the widest that will fit assuming you leave the 'inner' wheel wells stock.

I didnt even consider that, currently my truck sits high enough for that to not be taken into consideration. I guess I will be putting in some mini tubs then. I still think I could get them to fit, but not without modifying the lip of the wheelwell. I just don't wanna mess with notching the frame, done it before and dont wanna do it again.snake wrote:You indicate that you measured 15" clear from outside edge of leaf springs to the inside edge of the fender well.

I got the engine brakets on and test fit today, and all looks well. One question I do have, is which fan should I use? the original solid mounted 5 blade, or the fancy one off the 360 (already on for test fit)?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I wish I had a fan clutch on mine. Sometimes I think I'm pushing a propeller down the road that's pushing back against me. Of course, it could just be the aerodynamics of our bumps.

Well, I started her today for the first time since the new pulleys and clutchfan. It did actually sound like it ran smoother (the noise from under the hood) anyways, she is in the carport with the new frontend lying on the ground in front of her. I will start tomorrow. One thing I haven't decided yet is weather or not to just take sheet metal off the nose to make things easier. Any thoughts?
And yes, as soon as I start tearing into her there will be lots and lots of pictures

Ok, I seem to have pulled stick out of butt, and am working on my bumpy again!. Today I yanked the dizzy, intake, and carb. Damn that cast iron intake is freakin HEAVY! I thought I was gonna kill myself getting it out. Anyways, as this is just a old skool rat, I have no intention of over cleaning anything or trying to make it look purty and new.
Anyways here are a couple of pics from todays work:
and here is the new intake stuck in place. I unfortunately found out to late to do anything about it today, that I need shorter intake bolts! Every one of the long ones is about a half an inch to long!

Hopefully tomorrow I can go get some new bolts from Tacoma Screw. And another question... Since I am now running an aluminum intake, should I try and get shoulder bolts? or maybe some proper sized washers to keep the bolt heads from digging into the aluminum?

Yeah, for now I am gonna use the one I have. It's a 600 Edelbrock spread bore, so I am going to have to use the adapter plate.

Looks good. I know you are excited to finally be getting you hands dirty....really dirty.
I like smoothies, but have you ever seen a pick of our trucks w/ the smoothies? To me (this is only my opinion) it makes our trucks look like they are trying to be older than what they are. If it were me and I was going "old school" I would put some 500s on there. That would be sharp. But if you dig the smoothies, then smooth on my brother...smooth on.
Sorry. Don't know about the bolts. News to me. Maybe get some aluminum washers so it digs into those instead of your intake, or get some stainless washers. I don't know. I don't think it really maters as long as a washer is there.
A Edy 600 will be perfect for what you are doing.

Well I grabbed some grade 5 bolts to just "get it down" and they are ordering me some 3/8-16 Grade 8 Blackened smooth shoulder bolts in a 2 1/4 inch length. These should be perfect, and I will torque em down properly when I get the other bolts. BTW they are only 1.29 each.
Hey dablack, what are 500's?
