What tranny should I go with???
I recently came on to some extra money and I've always wanted to get a different tranny and make my 1969 F100 more street worthy. It has a 390 FE engine. I'd like a 4 or 5 speed manual that doesn't have a granny gear but would do great for zippin around town and have a reasonably geared highway gear. Anybody have any ideas and where I could look?

I guess a granny 5 speed would be okay. But this is a 2 wheel drive truck and I never take it off road. I just cruise it around town and occasionally take it on the freeway. The only time I use the granny is to pull it into the garage. But if 5th gear was a good ratio I'd try it.

Drive a 94 to '02 dodge cummins 5 speed if you get a chance. The NV4500 shifts quick, smooth and you won't break one ever with a gas engine.
I have one for sale in the parts section with all the adapters to put it behind an FE. I think I'm going to keep it though. I custom built it for my truck, but I can put a few hundred into it and keep it on the shelf ready to roll when a dodge cummins truck comes in with a bad one (I rebuild them all the time).

Yeah, I have a 20 year old shizuoka production CNC knee mill. It's an oldie, but works well for what I need.
I'll sell just the NV4500 adapter parts. Advance adapters actually turns thier transmission adapter plates on a lathe. They'd be pretty easy to duplicate, but not worth the time to me.
