Post by VA69Ford »

Alright first things first I just bought my 69 360 last week and i really dont know much about it so go easy on me...anyway my question is that at some point someone put a C6 in the truck and i want to change it back to manual, I was wondering what transmissions would bolt on to the 360.....it was originally a 3 on the tree but i was thinkin of puttin something with a couple more gears with a floor shifter....anyway thanks for the help

Most of them have a T-18 or an NP-235. They are both four speeds with first being a granny gear. You'll have to get a bell housing. I'd go to the wrecking yard or try http://www.craigslist.com Here's what a T-18 looks like.

Unless you go with a late model trans, the ones that will be a direct bolt in swap, that are 4 speeds, all have granny 1st gears. First gear is pretty useless unless you have 3500 pounds in the bed. You really don't gain anything other then a super low gear. :2cents:

Super low gears are useful and fun! Get a T18 or a 435. You can probably go to the junkyard and find one with ease. They were in old GM Ford and Dodge trucks.
