I guess it's probably be a good idea not to link to FTE since half the members here are banned! I wanted to see it too.

The link won't work if you're banned from FTE.

Well like stated B4 the crossmember deal was going to cause too much time and money to be spent right now so I just had the front frame modified by my friend ted's friends some certified welders to accomidate the 78-79 PS box. I went one step further than my friend Ted's rig and sent my PS box to West Texas Offroad to have it rebuilt, ported and sent back with the ram setup and hoses.

While I had the front clip off for the mods I took the time to have another radiator rebuilt for safe measure and cut out a bracket for my Felxalite dual electric fan setup to mount to, I still have some tweaking to do to make it just right and also wire it in but here is a pic of how it sits now. It's gonna be once close cookie with the fan shroud and the front of the PS box but it should be offset enough to clear by a 1/4in. :D

460, so your going to be switching to coils up front soon? I knocked out my crossmember in a day or 2 with some 1/4 and 1/2" steel. Dont know how much lift you want but that would not make much of a difference. But if you are planning to go coils soon then rock on!

I wouldve done coils on the 68 4x4 project but Its my first "build" and wanted to keep it some what
simple.

Dont know if you have seen how my design yet.

Eathan yes i have followed your build  Good stuff and lookin great.

Yes I plan on the coils as soon as money is there then putting my leafs under the 77 for 6in of lift. I hope to keep the 70 on the coils with about the same amount of lift just way more flex and alot smoother ride. But who knows when that might happen, the truck usually decided what project is next on it's own.

Shooting for coils around the the new yr with an income tax return. Keep the fingers crossed.

Here are some pics of the box mounted. It is ported for the Ram assist but they are capped off untill I can get over to a buddies house that has a welder to weld mounting tabs on. I still need to finish wiring the fan completely in and charge my A/c system. Also a little tweaking still needs to be done so one of the fans doesn't touch my A/c compressor. It's just a hair but needs more clearance and the fans thermostat needs to be addressed so it will turn on a little sooner.

Overall the steering is alot smoother than with the 2wd box, turns the 14.5 wide pitbulls at idle sitting on the asphalt with no effort. i think alot has to do with the box being more solid with the frame and the frame not flexing when stressed like b4.

The inner fender is not in it's final position as a little more trimming is needed and going to rivit a strip of thick rubber at the bottom to keep thins a little cleaner.

So now since the electric fan upgrade I'm not sure if it's draining my battery or I have another issue with my charging system. Funny thing is it went dead a few weeks back, I charged it and then drove it some more and then tested it and no drains or problems till today it was starting slow and was dead after a drive to the soccer park for the kids, but it came and went before so I thought all was good and never fixed anything. So I will be adding my 3G this week when my fuses and cables show up. This will scrap the voltage regulator :D

Yes! ditch the voltage reg. I'm glad you are finally stepping up to a 3G. You won't regret it at all. I'm running a taurus fan in front of the 460 in my short bed and it does a great job. I put in a 200 amp 3G from PA that fit my 96 E350 serpentine belt system perfectly. They really knew what they were doing. Also, I can have my light, heater, and taurus fan going at the same time and still have 13V going to the battery. And that is at 850 rpm idle.
