I'm considering the possibility of using the Ford NP205 in my 69 Crew project rather than trying to use the Dodge NP205 w/the passenger side drop. Currently I have the Dodge NV4500 4x4 trans w/29 spline output.
Can a divorced NP205 case be used as a mated TC to the NV4500 with an adapter?
Is the spline input of the Ford NP205 sufficient to handle turned up Cummins torque? Anyone know the input spline count?

Ford divorced cases can only be used divorced. Mated Ford cases are all 31 spline except for the 99 and up stuff. You can buy a dodge 29 spline input and drop it into a ford mated case and find the dodge adapter housing and redrill the ford case to fit the dodge adapter.
29 spline and 31 spline cases are both 1.5" diameter inputs. Finer splines are usually considered stronger, so the ford input may be a bit tougher.
