my 70 swb came with a 360, t-18 and a 9 inch. i plan on using the 390 and c6 as a replacement. my question is can i use the same drive shaft that came with the t-18 and 9 inch? do i have to get a different one?

Not if the auto trans is a slip yoke.

im not so much worried about the yoke, but the distance from the tranny to the rear end. is the c6 longer or the same length as a t-18? i will need to know if i need to shorten my drive shaft or get a longer one.

Try a totally different driveshaft. The T18 shaft has a slip joint in the middle and the C6 has the joint slide into the back of it (unless it's a fixed yoke version)

if its a two piece shaft you can adjust the lenght of your shaft by a few inches either way. you do this by drilling new holes in the carrier baering mount and moving the shaft forward or backward where you need it to go. i don't know how long a t18 is so i am unsure if you will need a different shaft or not.

i want to use the driveshaft that came frome my 70swb. i know that it will fit the rearend. what im looking at are the mating flanges on the tranny's. the one on the c6 looks almost identical to the t-18. besides the length of the driveshaft i think it will work. just need to do the measurments in the morning. will let you know.

well i took measurements today. the c6 extends further from the trannt mount than the t18. i will have to shorten the drive shaft.
