driveshaft?
Ok went from 240 with 3 on the tree to a 390 with a cruise-o-matic behind it. I need the driveshaft shortened quite a bit. I was thinking of just having one made. The one on the truck is a two piece. Can I have a one piece made?? are there restrictions on how long a one piece drive shaft can/should be?? What is the advantage/disadvantage for one piece VS. two piece shaft???

re: driveshaft?
im in the same situation about having my driveshaft shortened. but my question is do you have a lwb or swb? if it is a lwb you will need a 2 peice drive shaft. this is to allow flex. if it was a 1 peice on a lwb there is a high possibility that it could break. now, if it is a swb all you nees is a 1 peice. i hope that this helps.

Yeah its a lwb, but was hoping to get way from the two piece because I don't wan't to go through the hassel of getting a new carrier bearing anf putting it in.

re: driveshaft?
Hello I just did some thing like this I went from a cruise o matic to a c6 from a 76 i used the driveshaft from the 76 and had it shortened they had to put a different ujoint on the end so I could mate it up to the 67 rear end. I don't think you need a two piece. Oh Yeah both trucks were LWB. hope this helps any questions I'll try and answer.
