Is an aluminum C6 pan worth it?

I am having my C6 rebuilt locally similar to a Broader Performance 500 Street/Strip (stock ratio). They asked me if I wanted an aluminum pan which would hold a few extra quarts of fluid and help cool the transmission. Is this worth an additional $160.

I don't know about the extra capacity, but you can pickup finned, aluminum pans for like 30 bucks on ebay.

It MAY be worth it.

Something to consider... if you have a deep sump pan you need a deep sump pickup.... otherwise the extra capacity doesn't do you a lot of good as you can't get to it.

I don't know the price of the deep sump pickup adapters and filters, but most of the time the ones on ebay do not have those..

Another issue to think about is ground clearance... if you wheel alot the sump MAY get in the way...

they do cool better and more oil will absorb heat better, BUT $160 is a bit much.

Take a looke at summit racing or JEG's.

You cold do the same with a nice big tranny cooler, and less price and headache.

If you do do it, you need one that has the angled corners or puts the extra capacity toward the center.

A TCI one for instance comes very near the crossmember and may even touch, which isn't good.

You do need an extension which comes with most new name brand ones.

Tranny shop might have a stock 4x4 pickup also thats whats in mine, not sure what the 4x4 pan holds over the 2wd version but it's a little more. if I bought a new pan i'd make sure it has a drain plug this time.
