C4 tailshaft housing problem.

Post by RTG_RACING »

OK so a buddy if mine calls me last night with a problem with his trans. I go over and find out what his issue was. He was outting his trans in and dropped it. It didn't crack anything but it dented the end were the the seal goes. Kind of made it oblong. Do the tailshaft seal is in but it leaks bad. Anyone have any idea how to make this round again?

That would be a tough one to fix without a new housing. It's been my experience that autos don't fair so hot when dropped. If you want to see something cool, drop a 4L80E from 4 feet. It'll make you feel better about a little dent in your C4 housing (the 4L80E will be in 40 pieces).

Get a undamaged tail for it. You will never be able to make it seal right, you may be able to use a lathe to make it round again, but would be a very small chance the seal bore would be concentric with the bushing bore.
