Got some shop time in today...

Post by FORDification »

I got to spend the day in the shop today, finally getting back to work on the '67. I actually did do some small parts cleanup/painting for it last weekend, but nothing major.

I got started by pushing the truck outside and hosing off almost a year's worth of dust, so that I could get the bodywork finished up, since I need to get thing painted very soon!:

I then got the driver's door mounted and gutted out:

...and then stripped down to mostly bare metal:

This door was a gem....absolutely NO rust or dents! I just wish I could same the same about the right-side door. I had two R/S doors set aside that I thought were rust-free, but upon closer inspection both turned out to have some rust issues along the bottom, so now I'm gonna have do weld in a patch panel on one of them, as well as filling some trim holes that won't be used along the bottom. :x

I'll try to get a project update page posted within the next day or two, that'll include more details and photos. :D

Well, it'll probably happen eventually, but not in the immediate future. :hd: We're just being creative with the family finances to make it work. I'm married to a wonderful woman who kinda understands how important this stuff is to me.

You know, I haven't decided. I've still got the blue-purple Rustoleum that I got when I was going to attempt to hand-paint, but I really don't like that shade. And I've also got the two gallons of Blitz Black that I bought for the choptop, but I don't think that's right for this truck either. I'm still leaning towards a deep midnite blue...it'll probably either be that or Rangoon Red.

For now, the choptop is pushed to the back of the shop and I might tinker with it now and then, but for the most part I'm back to work full-time on the '67. The goal is to get it painted before snowfall, so I can spend the winter getting things reassembled. In fact, I'm probably going to be ordering my new paint gun this evening, and sometime next week will get the paint and supplies. So I'll need to make a decision on the color pretty soon!

It sure is nice to see the '67 in the front of the shop again. It seems like your so close to finishing. You'll be over a huge hurdle once you get it painted. I can't wait to see it!

Keith,

Great to see the 67 out in front. Looking good.

As always, thanks for the updates. I will be doing some updates myself in the next couple weeks now that I have the 69 from cathynkeith.
