Are you thinking of a 9"? Some refer to the 9" as a quik change rearend. The centers (ring, pinion, carrier and center housing) unbolt off the rearend housing as one unit. Of course the axle shafts need to be removed first.

Not the 9", the Quickchange. You can look at some at speedwaymotors.com. I have a couple 9"ers. the Quickchange looks alot different.

They have a cover on the rear of the axle you can remove and swap out a gearset in 30 seconds.

they have a parallel counter shaft.

power comes in through the pinion and is transferred to the countershaft via 2 gears. The countershaft actually drives the spiders and axle shafts.

The 2 changeable gears are on the back and accessed through a cover.
