Experienced my first setback today. After getting the input shaft and everything aligned, pins set in place and started threading bolts than started to torque it down and CRACK. Bellhousing just said good bye. So now in the process is deciding on a new tranny...

Thought I might share this with you. That air cleaner might hurt your performance. I had one like that on my 68 mustang with a hipo 390. We had it on the dyno making 348 rwhp. Switch it with a 14" round with 4" element that the dyno shop had laying around and got 367 rwhp. K&N of the same size made 365 rwhp. The dyno teck claimed that style of air cleaner caused turbulence above the carb. That was on a holly 750 dp so it may be different with that style of carb.

Some big progress being made for me the last three days. Got some more stuff to finish up the motor. New oil pickup, ARP oil pan bolt set, a new tranny jack, new tranny, complete exhaust system from Hooker with some series 50 flows, and a set of flanges to go from the header to the exhaust system.

After putting on the new Milodon pan, pickup, and ARP bolt set, I got started on finishing up the old paint/grime removal from the engine bay to prep it for paint and hopefully within the next three weeks it will be running and it may not have a paintjob on the outside but it'll be runnin good on the inside. Down the road it will have a complete set of bodywork done which isn't much seeing it has no dents/dings. There is some small rust spots but nothing serious. I am stoked, finally gonna have a running truck.

Well made some serious progress, engine is mounted up, just have to bolt up the tranny and finish up the wiring in the engine bay.

What did you use for paint on the engine bay?
Spray can or air compressor, looks really good.

Air Compressor + Cheapo Kragen's Special Paint Gun. Actually doesn't work half bad. Used their ready to go primer and jet black paint. All you have to do is shake the can, and than strain it, pour it into the gun and spray.

Well. Wiring is done. Works. Waiting for my third radiator now. The original was toasted, second one (brand new) had a foot put through it, and the third one(again brand new) looked like someone had stabbed it with a large screwdriver. Once the radiator is in and filled and doesn't leak I am gonna drop in the new battery, prime the oil pump and fuel pump, and turn it over.

I don't know about the performance of that air cleaner but a friend of mine had one and ended up with a problem. His engine backfired and the foam element caught on fire. Ended up ruining his carb cause all the foam melted down into it and it blistered the paint on his hood. Just my .02 but it does look good.
