photo with some paint

Post by 1971fordcustom »

It still needs to be wet sanded and then there will be one more coat of paint and then 3 coats of clear.

LOL its Saddle tan. Ya I know how can that be tan  . The paint is dead on its not a shade off. The guy thats doing it had to take part of my truck to the auto paint store from there thay put in under a lazer and it gave them ever color that was in the paint lol. I think ford only had that color for trucks like 2 years maybe 3. One thing is you never see that color any more.

Yes that is the orignal color. Its not the old type paint. I think its a base paint or some thing like that lol ill have to ask ed once more :x. I know its going to look good out in the sun!! Like I said on the other post Ford only had this color for 2 or 3 years so its a rare color

Looks great. Yeah, find out what kind of paint he used. That can't just be the base (if its base coat/clear coat). Base looks really flat without the clear on top. Anyway, looks great. I have a 71 short bed that I'm going to be painting Sequoia Brown ( I think that is what yours is too). I think it is code R for the color.

He keeps telling me what color it is but I it keeps sliping my mind. Thats the lest of my problems right now lol. My color is SADDLE TAN. When they put it under the laser they went to the old ford books they had and that what the color is. And for the code thats a funny thing. Mine is not R mine said X well in the books it said it was blue well my truck sure is not blue  . Its never been repainted All ways been in are family sense it was brand new. Well my great great uncel order it. Well come to find out its a "Explorer special custom'''' But all we can think of they had the tag on it and was going to paint it blue but when he ordered it he wanted saddle tan so they did not change the tag. The guy that is doing mine said he has done some like that be for where the codes are wrong. LOL crazy

The little old lady across the street has a truck that color. One of these days I'm gonna go over and get some pics of it. Her story is a for a different thread .

The 71 that I'm about to paint is an explorer too. Maybe it is just the pictures, but it really looks to be the same color as mine.
