I have seen people do V8's in those little trucks, but I am not set on using that clip. It's just a clip a lot of people use for swaps.
Should have my wiring harness ordered today

Well, got the fuse box mounted, wires into the engine ba, and should be getting things connected here shortly. Just taking a quick break right now. So far everything has been perfect, though I haven't started connecting things.
I am not sure if I should reuse the plug for the regulator or just connect directly to it with a connector on each wire. I can't get the old connectors out of the old plug.

Okay, I must say... cleaning up wiring is probably the number one thing to making an engine bay look 10x cleaner. I am very happy with what I have done so far. I will post pictures in a little while when the camera comes home.

I am 100% going to rewire mine. Ive looked at some of the wires, and i just cant stand to keep it that way.
Mine has no problems, but i cant say that the wires wont start breaking when i move em. the coating on them is falling apart.

Well, I got a discount for being a forum member over on the HAMB, so I would say add 10 dollars to the list price. So, something like 150 shipped if you're not a hamb member.

fair warning, its a VERY VERY purpose built website. anything 65 and later isn't exactly welcome. it's a traditional hot rod site, and they keep it that way. so don't go asking questions about your 70's model f100 haha. just a fair warning, but they DO have some good classifieds and "alliance" vendors.

I will be taking the time to make a diagram once mine is in, and I know everything works. So that if you want to order (or anyone) this kit, it will be a bit easier to follow.1971ford wrote:i should rewire my whole truck because i have lots and lots of wires that lead to nothing. they just stop, but everything works. so im not going to take chances in rewiring the truck. would be very nice though!

Okay, after some cursing, we got the ignition switch to fry the voltage regulator . Well, indirectly. I'm sure you can guess what words left my mouth at that point, your first thought is correct. Other than that, the whole burning solder on my skin caused the rest. It's okay though.
We got the switch to click the starter relay, and actual turn the starter. It got to a point that the starter wouldn't even turn though. It may be a bad starter, could be battery, could be a very tight engine, it could be anything. Starter will get tested early next week and a new battery (for safeties sake) will be bought as well. THEN we will get back to ignition stuff.
My only bother is that we didn't have to use one wire from the switch. It's a 18 or so gauge purple wire, no clue what it did, as it's not on the harness diagram in the right position. We had to do our own tests to figure continuity on the switch. We got it right, just no clue of that wire....
