How does a limited slip diff effect fuel mileage? Never heard that before.basketcase0302 wrote:Danzig,
When you say the "original" rearend in the truck.
What model truck or rearend?
Detroit locker is the one if you want to burn rubber.
Keep in mind with a positive traction like the locker your gas mileage is gonna be terrible.
Traction locks are cool too.

If you ain't looking to spend any cash on it just insert some ball bearings between the teeth on the spiders and weld the crap out of it. Just don't weld on the carrier itself.tod-hog wrote:You boys are scaring me a little. The thread looks to be out of gas so hope it's okay to hijack it. I have a trac-loc that I recently came across and was going to put it my 68 (390) with some low (.411) gears to have a toy. The engine is mild, 350 hp/ 400 lb torque but enough of to perform the one wheel peel. Since mileage sucks anyway thought I'd make it a stop light king and run it at the local track for kicks occasionally. Should I find something else?
