change to mercon dextron 5 and put dr shudder in and that will take care of the problem for awhile md5 is full sentric but in the near furture you will have to put a new torque converter in or it will shell the whole tran
I have a 95 F150 work truck with a 300-6 and automatic and it is having tranny issues also. The u-joints have been replaced already, so I have ruled that out. Even with the overdrive button in the off position it shifts really hard when it changes gears at about 40mph. I thought that it would go through 3 shifts only with the overdrive locked out, but it feels like its making a 4th shift and comes in so hard it almost snaps my neck. Is this the torque convertor locking/unlocking? In town I have started running it in second gear so it does not make the hard shift, but I figure this can't be the best thing for the tranny. Is this also an indication of a convertor going south?

When my truck grows up, it wants to be a Crew Cab like Teacherman's
Had a 95 T-bird with the infamous torque convertor shudder. Started soon after we bought it. Changed the fluid to the Mercon IV, added Mr. Tranny shudder fix from NAPA and added a bigger cooler. Drove the car about 40k more miles without a shudder. Sold it

i got mine shudder fixed today. i used a fluid modifier called drtanny. www.drtranny.com
it took the shutter out of my transmission. i got on the highway and it didnt shutter at all. either on the way to work or on the way home. i got it from oriellys. its a little tube about 6 inches long.
from what i have been reading here and there. what this additive does is make the transmision fluid thicker or more sticky. so therefore it can grab the clutches inside the torque converter better. and they wont try and shudder when they engage each other.
