FINALLY I have gotten into the EFI swap on my bump (4/16/08)

Post by Lickmstickmman »

I have been accumulating the parts for awhile and am now in the middle of getting it done. Now understand, my mechanical abilities are middle of the road... thats why this has been a long process going on.

Anyhow, I have been good at taking pics along the way, but basically...

I have a 331 stroker left over from a fox build I was going to do with twin turbos. I got the stock 302 out a few months back and proceeded to clean and smooth the inner fender and firewall. I then painted it satin black. I am in the middle of test fitting the RJM Technologies harness for a bronco and hooking everything up. I have to say, the harness is awesome! I am about to do the small part search (sensors, cutoffs, etc...). I am also eyeballing what to do about the throttle hookups.

Anyhow, here is a link to the picks:

More pics as I go...

hmmm - does a twin turbo'd, EFI 331 stroker belong in a F100?

Yeah, some of the stuff done to the truck before I bought it was:

Ididit column, Fatman Mustang II front end, lowered.

If you look at my Fordification photo album you can see just how low the truck sits... of course, in the EFI pics it is up on jack stands so I can lay under it and contemplate my fuel system ideas. I want the tank out of the cab, but still under the cab so I can use the stock filler neck... shouldnt be to hard (yeah, right!).

Thats nice :D , i'm looking to do the same. 8) Is that the ho engine or standard 302? Reason i ask is the firing orders are different, so i was wondering how the injector connections were set up. Is that harness for maf system or speed density? Did you scroung the computer from junkyard or is that rjm computer?
Sorry for all the ???'s, just wondering whats going to be my best route.

I look forward to sharing any of the info I have gathered.

Harness is a RJM for Broncos
Computer was an ebay buy of a A9P (needed because I am going AOD)
Complete drivetrain is essentially a 93 Mustang 5.0, so MAF,etc...
Gas pedal and cables are from the same car, just need to fabricate to make it work.

I got a real good deal on the serpentine setup from ebay, so I didnt use the stock stuff. A/C will go on later when money is better.

I plan to make a cruiser that I can take long trips if I want to.

Benji,

Since you're answering questions...

Never seen engine mounts like that on a 302 powered Ford truck, what's up with that?

A lot of wires, gonna have to run a bigger alternator for more circuits?

Please don't let any of that yellow thing rub off on your awesome truck and keep up the awesome work!

And to answer your signature: Heck yes a twin turbo 331 stroker belongs in your truck!

motor mounts are for 65-72 mustang (i think that is the years) and the mount to frame is part of the Fatman kit. It will allow plenty of room for the twin turbos I will be installing. The kit I have is called an Incon 60TTI setup. It has cast headers that allow the twin gt28(maybe 35s) turbos to tuck under the engine (origianlly made to fit stock foxbody Mustangs).

The RJM kit comes with a one wire adapter. So I will be running the newer style one wire alternators.

The harness only uses about 3 spliced wires for the computer (1 hot, 1 switched hot, one ground) and has adapters to tie into the stock ignition harness. This harness is the one under your dash that has a 4-wire connector (like trailer lights use). It ties the ignition, coil and something else back to the original harness. I believe there is also a wire for the tach and lights, not sure off the top of my head.

More later after I get some dinner.

This is great for long trips cause I have the same setup on mine and what a diference it makes from the stock setup if you only want it for a cruiser.
Your work looks great!

Marz, I was hoping all of yours would have been done before I attempted mine, then I would of had someone to reference. All this learning it on my own is tough! So whats the latest on yours? In paint and driving yet?

My truck is already a driver I have already taken it to a few shows and it rides and drives great. For paint I have always liked dark charcoal gray with black bumpers but I don't know right now.

Is the fuel injection throttle body or multi port?

Everything I am instaling came from a 93 Mustang, so it is a single throttle body.

More work this weekend coming and I will have new pics then.
