1969 consumer report's equivalent

I was just thinking, is there one out there? I would like to know how these trucks compared with their Contemporaries.

Dont know how they rated in consumer reports, but in my observations, there seem to be a helluva lot more around and still working (being used) than there are of all the other brands combined. I know these old Fords had some rust prone areas and problems, but I think most of the competition rusted away a long time ago.

Down here in North Texas I see a lot more 67-72 chebbies than Fords and very very rarly see any dodge trucks.

I guess its the exact opposite up north.

At car shows down here I always see 67-72 chebbies. I took my 67 Ford and it was the only one from the 67-72 years.

Must be location I guess.

I still rather have a Ford over a chebby any day.

seems that way here too, i mean with fords...lots of 70 and below running around...even some sixties....saw a 65 doing lawn care duty, and a uni being used to haul trailers of firewood

Just bought a record album and filstrip off of Ebay on the 69 F-100's in comparison to the Chevy C-10's. Album was put out by Ford, so it basically bashes the Chevy trucks! Still very cool! Thought of trying to transfer it to cassette if anybody is interested.

Didn't Ford outsell the chebbies of the same era by like A LOT?!? I saw the stats once, and can't remember now, but I seem to recall a real ass kicking by the blue oval boys. When I'm in E. WA, farm country, the only old trucks I see are Fords. Says a lot IMO about the fact they were not only the first choice of work vehicles, but they were worked hard and still keep ticking.

As much as I hate to say it. Chebbies are just plain easier to get parts and service for. You can pick up just about any old car or magazine and mail order a whole damn truck or car out of it.

Now mind you I will still be using and driving my FORD while you are your on your 3rd or 4th Chebbie so " take that" .

It is my understanding,And HO that the ford Motor is the hardest to kill.Same with the truck. after thirty plus years (about 33) My old 72 only has three or four rust outs and its only in places where the paint is worn off.all four are in the rocker panels.


Oh and a guy i work with has a 59 F-100 or what ever year in the late 50's early 60's they called them F-100. And 90% of the vehicles at this job and at the trucking company are some model year of ford truck and or car.

I know that my 67 had basically 300,000 on the ticker when I got it with the original motor.

Also know that the 67 is in better shape as far as rust is concerned than my 79 Chevy with less miles.

In my vast sales coverage area .I cover all of west and southwest Texas from Ft Worth north Up 287 to Amarillo,and everything south and west . I see them everywhere .A guy in Granbury has a'70 model Ranger might even be a xlt heck i don't know . He says was running when he parked it , he changed the pig in the rear end and ended up with wrong axle splines , has some trim work missing, clear title wants 300.00, found a sw '67 for parts has a lot of trim missing interior is dust everything complete except steering column, solid cab <thump>200.00no title .And there are several that I'm going to ask about . if i can get digi to work I'm going to start pinpointing and documenting them will keep every one posted

Up here in Alaska the old fords RULE the roads. I think there are about 3 67-72 chebbies runnin around town. One of them beign my friends from Fairbanks, AK. Its a 69 and the 350 is so close to passin away that my 4 wheeler in the back luggs it down pretty bad. However there are at least 10 67-72 fords runnin around. I also see them parked in almost every back yard that has old cars and trucks in it. My friends grandpa has 3. a 68, a 69, and a 72 ranger. The problem being is alaska's winters rust them out bad. Too bad but lots of parts. I have 3 weeks to get some tail lights in my flatbad and some new tires on my truck. I also need to put new wheel bearings in it. But since i at work we have a 4 post lift and 3 2 post lifts and my boss is happy to help me work on my truck that wont be a problem. Then i get my licence. :twisted:
