Looks great man. Sure is a lot of space between the fender lip and top of the tire :hn: . Great progress.

Thanks Mug. I work Sun/Mon/Tue and every other Wednesday so I have 3 and 4 day weekends always! :D Plus, if I take three days off (a short week), that's 10 days in a row!

Thanks and you're right. A lot of room to lower it. I can't wait to get that done too. Soon, soon, soon!

And lastly, it's pretty much done appearance wise (at least this time around!) except for the 3-5" drop all the way around and the chrome rear sport bumper! I've got a whopping $60 in the paint job! I hope it lasts for a couple years at least. If not, I can always do it again! :D

What type of paint did you use and how did you apply it? I like the color and am thinking about using it on my truck.

Well, believe it or not, I used Krylon semi-flat black spray paint! I know, I know, don't laugh! My plan was to stay low budget all the way and stick with the 'rat rod' theme. I really just want it to last 2-3 years until I can perform a more extensive and detailed rebuild. I really need to finish my '56 F100 first. It's my high $ restomod. This '69 will just be a low budget bomber to take to cruises, rod runs, etc. and satisfy my craving to drive an old Ford truck! I didn't take the truck down to bare metal. I just scuffed everything with my DA sander and Scotchbrite pads and laid it on THICK with many many coats.
If you are wanting a good satin black paint, you should check out "Hot Rod Flatz". It's pretty inexpensive and is an actual paint (not primer which does NOT protect) with UV protection and is weather proof. It's what I'm thinking of putting down on my '56. They have many other colors too! 8)
BTW green, I grew up in Oregon and used to live in Portland!

Oh, and thanks seattle! :D

Thanks for the compliments! I think the cost of the Hot Rod Flatz is roughly $150 for 1-1/2 gallons of sprayable material (more than enough to paint a bump I think!). You can buy a relatively inexpensive spray gun at Harbor Freight too. I bought one that I use for primers only. I'll probably get a nicer one when it comes time to paint my '56 though.

Here's the link to Hot Rod Flatz: http://www.tcpglobal.com/kustomshop/ksflatz.aspx

I would highly recommend the semi-flat versus the totally flat if you go the spray can route as the flat gets really "chalky" and fades. That may happen to my '69 but I did it anyway because I wasn't ready to do any body work yet and I didn't want to spend any more money.

Oh yeah, House of Color also makes several colors of satin finishes. They are made by DuPont.

Thanks for the tips! I had planned on using semi flat instead of flat anyway. I think it looks better. How do you plan on dropping your truck? I think i'm pretty set on using DJM all around. It looks like about $750 from summit minus the front and rear springs to get the job done. Are you thinking of going lower with a C-notch and all of that good stuff? I'm just trying to get ideas.

Yup. I've already got the DJM 3" beams for a '78 (different kingpin size) as I plan on a disc brake upgrade at the same time and my spindles, radius arms, coils, etc. are from a '78. I'm considering cutting a half to full coil out of the springs too but I'm not real sure. I'll probably have the front end apart a couple of times until I get it where I want it. For the back, I'm either flipping the front leaf hangers (good for 3-5" depending on where it's finally located) or getting the DJM kit. Either way, I only want to go as low as I can without a c-notch. I'm also wanting it to sit level or with no more than a 1-2" rake. Good luck with yours and have fun! Oh, and share some pics when you get the chance!

Thanks Mug and I'd say it's pretty close! Especially since I'm working nights right now for about another month (red eyes)!
