trans fluid (where to add)?

Post by Bonnie_72_F100 »

So, there are two locations that I think are logical for adding trans fluid but I'm guessing only 1 is correct.

Please let me know which of these locations is right!

Picture 1 = left side of the block (from the grille facing the cab). This line goes straight back and to (or close to) the trans.

Picture 2 = right side of the engine (same perspective as above). the dipstick on this one says to 'measure when hot' and says 'auto trans fluid fomoco' on the other side of the dipstick...

Thanks!

thanks!

I got nervous & confused when I saw "auto trans fluid" on the p/s dipstick. How much p/s fluid (trans fluid) do you use and how often to you need to replace it? Where do you drain it at (if needed)?

Thanks!

i wish my transmission tube was that easy to get to. i have to practically climb into the engine compartment to get to it.

About every 15000 miles normal use. If you have big tires and no p/s oil cooler, maybe more frequently. Either remove a return hose and turn pump by hand or suck it out. Most p/s systems don't come with drain plugs.
