Actually Linda's dad passed away earlier this year, she had the 68 before but due to a divorce the work never started and she gave it back to her dad due to storage issues for it and the parts she already had purchased, but since his death she got it back and we are restoring it for her to drive, he actually was the second owner and had it when she was a kid. She talked about wanting it back when we first started dating, and since then we have found we both have a passion for our old cars, i also have my first car a 69 mustang fastback that needs much more work than the truck and a lot of sheet metal replaced, but we are enjoying every minute of working on both, (well one at time due to our current budget tighting up) I just can't do the major body work so we are farming that out to a local guy who has done some of the show cars around here. We can't wait to get the truck back home and start putting it back together again. Her dad always wanted to see it restored and be able to drive it again, we just wish he could have. But she will enjoy it for many years to come.

I've been to Defuniak twice this month on motorcycle rides, last Sunday as a matter of fact. I ate at the Sonic on 331 before heading back to Milton.

If you need anything, shoot me a pm and maybe we can swap parts or knowledge.

Later...

Thanks for the offer, I will be needing a windshield for the truck, my main problem now though is the floor of the bed is in bad shape so i've got to get that fixed after we finish the cab.

All of my 'extra' windshields are either cracked or turning milky. :(
I gotta get a new one myself for the F250.

That will be an awesome tribute to him for sure...
Let me know if you need any info...
I have the complete shop manual set in both digital and hard copy versions.
Anytime I see any '68 Ford issued literature I try to get it.

Thanks for the offer kaptnkaos, I may have to take you up on that in the future. Well sorry I have been quiet for a while, but have been on the great hood search. I finally found one that is rust free and except for a very small dent, it almost perfect. Although while purchasing this hood I was talking to the owner of the junk yard I didn't even know existed. We were talking about restoring older cars, he was showing me a superbee he was working on when I mentioned the 69 mustang of mine we are gathering parts for, he then walked me to the back of his yard and showed me one he has on the yard and gave me one heck of a price for it. So that said i'm going mid January to pick up the car for parts, which will put the truck a month off schedule but that's ok, it's closer to being done now. All I have to do now it build a shop to store the projects in when I get them home, and to put them in when we are finished and not driving them. Merry Christmas everyone.

shop space is definatly a plus. i've got my bump in the driveway and half the parts in the garage to keep the rust at bay. are you going to keep with the I6?

Plan is to return it as much the the way it was when her dad was driving it. The factory 240 runs like a champ, other than the shift column being stuck in 2-3 meaning you can't pull it back to shift R-1, it will only shift 2-3, the truck mechanically is good, just needed some body work mostly. The hood was shot on the underside, took 3 months to find one to replace it that was rust free. The bed is shot, but a buddy of mine has a 67 that has enough floor left in it that between the two we can build one good bed, just got to remember to put the holes in the lower rear quarter for the reflectors. Other than that we are in good shape on it. We saw a 67 at a car lot in a town not to far from us the other day. It was wimbleton white, and looked visually like hers so she got the fever to drive it again. That means I have to hurry up and get it finished, which in turn means the mustangs turn will come faster, so i'm good with that. BTW the lot wanted $12,700 for the truck, it was late and we didn't get to see all the specs, but it wasn't even original, ie wrong pin striping, wrong hub caps, and such. Would like to go back and see it again next time we go through in the day time.

Ok it's been a while, so heres the latest on the 68 bump. We have all the body work done on the cab, and the first coats of paint on the interior. If the weather cooperates, hopefully by Christmas we will have the final coats on the interior and jambs. I am cleaning the radiator support, and inner fenders, one of which he has to do some welding on first. Before bolting the front clip back on I want to pull the engine and tranny, clean the frame rails and front of the cab and paint them, as well as clean the engine and paint it, freshen it all up. I am going to stop by NPD and try to pick up the seat covers, because when It comes home I want to install the interior back into it. That will give me something to do while the get the bed ready for paint.
